The Curriculum

What You'll Study

Every 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Lanka Yoga is built on the same core foundations — then each training applies them through its own lineage. Whichever you choose, you'll graduate able to plan, sequence and lead a class with confidence.

Asana & Movement

Intelligent sequencing, alignment and hands-on adjustments across foundational and intermediate postures — taught through the lens of your chosen lineage (Vinyasa, Hatha or Yin & Restorative).

Functional Anatomy & Physiology

How the body actually moves — joints, muscles, breath and the nervous system — and how to keep students safe and adapt the practice for individual bodies.

Teaching Methodology & Practicum

Your voice, cueing, class structure and presence. You teach from early in the course and receive real, supportive feedback so teaching feels natural by graduation.

Yoga Philosophy & History

The roots of yoga through its key texts and traditions — and how that wisdom translates into honest, modern teaching.

Pranayama & Meditation

Breath and meditation techniques to regulate the nervous system, both for your own practice and to share with your future students.

The Business of Teaching

How to build an actual teaching life — finding work, teaching online and in studios, and the private graduate community that supports you long after you leave.

A Day on the Training

What a Training Day Looks Like

Days follow a supportive rhythm of practice, study and rest. Here's a typical day on a 200-hour training — evenings are mostly your own, and one day each week is reserved for rest, integration and exploring the south coast.

Questions

FAQs about the Yoga Teacher Training in Sri Lanka

What does the 200-hour yoga teacher training cover?

Our 200-hour trainings are full Yoga Alliance RYT-200 certifications — three weeks covering anatomy and physiology, philosophy, teaching methodology, and daily practice, qualifying you to teach globally.

Is the Yoga Teacher Training at Lanka Yoga Alliance certified?

Yes. Our 200-hour trainings are registered with Yoga Alliance (RYT-200), and the Teachers Intensive carries YACEP continuing education credits. Accreditation for the upcoming Yin training will be confirmed when the program is announced.

How long is a yoga teacher training in Sri Lanka?

Our 200-hour trainings run for three weeks and the Teachers Intensive is seven nights — all fully residential at Lanka Yoga on Koggala Lake. The format for the upcoming Yin training will be confirmed when it's announced.

How much does yoga teacher training cost in Sri Lanka?

200-hour trainings start from €3,200 (shared room) up to €4,000 (private), and the Teachers Intensive from €1,350. All prices include accommodation and meals. Pricing for the upcoming Yin training will be shared when it's announced.

Can beginners join the yoga teacher training?

Yes, though some prior experience helps. We recommend at least six months of regular practice before joining a 200-hour training. Many students come primarily to deepen their own practice rather than to teach, and that's completely fine.

Where in Sri Lanka is Lanka Yoga located?

On Koggala Lake near Galle, on Sri Lanka's south coast — about two hours from Colombo International Airport. Close to beaches, surf, and Galle Fort.

What is included in the yoga teacher training?

All trainings include tuition, accommodation, and three plant-based meals a day. 200-hour programs also include course materials, a printed training manual, Yoga Alliance RYT-200 certification, and lifetime access to our online foundations course.

How do I book?

Click through to the training that interests you, check availability, and hit Book Now to secure your spot. Or message us at hello@lankayoga.lk.

Do I need a visa for Sri Lanka?

Citizens of 40+ countries get visa-free entry, and most others can apply for a low-cost eTA online before travelling. We'll point you to the latest requirements in your info pack.

How do I get to Lanka Yoga from the airport?

Fly into Colombo (CMB) — it's about a 2 to 2.5 hour drive south to Koggala Lake. We can arrange a private airport transfer for you, and trainees often share the ride.

When is the best time of year to train?

The south coast is sunniest from roughly December to March, with wetter spells between May and September. We run trainings across the year — tell us your dates and we'll give you a realistic picture.

What should I bring?

Comfortable clothing for practice, any personal props you love, and an open mind. We send a full packing list in your info pack once you've booked.

Do I have to teach professionally afterwards?

Not at all. Many trainees join to deepen their own practice rather than to teach — you'll still graduate with full RYT-200 certification either way.
