About the Synergy Retreat
This retreat is led by Dushyantha and Marilena, both part of the Lanka Yoga training team. The practice is rooted in Synergy Vinyasa — a modern approach blending Vinyasa, Iyengar, physiotherapy and Qi Gong. Energising morning flows, slow restorative evenings, and accessible to all levels.
The week includes a massage, sauna and ice bath at Ember & Ice, and a boat trip to Temple Island. Come solo, with a partner, or with friends — maximum 20 people.

What to Expect
In our retreats we teach Yoga Synergy — a modern postural yoga practice that draws inspiration from Chinese Yoga such as Qi Gong. This approach is evidence-based and prioritises safety, making it accessible to students of all levels. Yoga Synergy has three interlinked practices.
Download the Info PackJoint & Spinal Movements
Gentle, flowing movements inspired by Qi Gong with focused spinal exploration. We move from simple to circular patterns that awaken the whole body, building awareness, control and freedom in the spine — foundational for safe, effective movement.
Asana, Flow & Posture
Our take on modern vinyasa yoga. Drawing on anatomy and physiology, we navigate traditional and contemporary asanas with fluidity, including a reimagined approach to sun salutations — practical, easy to comprehend and accessible at every level.
Restorative Flow & Stillness
Drawing from yin-like and restorative traditions, using supportive props and long-held floor-based postures to release tension in the fascia and nervous system. A time to listen inward, explore stillness and allow the body to settle into a calm, receptive state.
Meet Your Teachers — Marilena & Dushyantha

Originally from Germany, Marilena brings a rich background in ballet and dance into her approach to yoga — weaving softness and intelligent, adaptable movement into a gentle, exploratory practice grounded in yogic philosophy and self-inquiry.
Born and raised in Sri Lanka, Dushyantha combines endurance sports, strength training and coaching with years of Vipassana meditation and Buddhist philosophy — emphasising sustainable, fluid movement and strength through softness and mindful awareness.

Retreat Yourself
A retreat doesn't need to change your life to be worthwhile. Sometimes it's enough to spend a week eating well, moving your body, sleeping deeply and remembering what it feels like not to rush.
At Lanka Yoga, everything happens in one place. The open-air shala sits among the trees overlooking the lake, the kitchen serves fresh vegan meals throughout the day, and beaches, surf breaks and Galle Fort are all close enough to explore. You arrive for the yoga. You leave remembering the whole experience.

FAQs about the Synergy Retreat
Do I need experience with Yoga Synergy?
No. The practice is designed to meet you where you are. Whether you've been practising for years or just starting out, the teachers adapt everything to suit your level. Small group sizes (max 20) mean you get proper attention.
How much yoga is there each day?
Two sessions — a 90-minute morning flow and a 90-minute evening practice. Mornings are more dynamic (Synergy Vinyasa, joint movements, asana), evenings restorative (yin, Yoga Nidra, pranayama). There's also a workshop most afternoons.
Can I come on my own?
Absolutely — most people do. With three room options (shared, twin or private) you can be as social or as independent as you like.
How far is the beach?
About five minutes by tuk-tuk to Habaraduwa beach. The surf breaks at Ahangama and Kabalana are around 15 minutes away, and Galle Fort about 20.
What's the food like?
All meals are vegan, chef-designed, and made with as much home-grown and local produce as possible — a mix of Western and Sri Lankan dishes. Let the kitchen team know any allergies or dietary needs in advance.
