what you’ll learn

In our retreats, we teach Yoga Synergy, which is a modern postural yoga practice that draws inspiration from Chinese Yoga, such as Qi Gong. This approach is evidence-based and prioritises safety, making it accessible to students of all levels. Yoga Synergy has three interlinked practices.

joint and spinal movements

This practice blends gentle, flowing movements inspired by Qi Gong with focused spinal exploration. Beginning with individual joint complexes, we move through simple to circular patterns that awaken the whole body. As the joints begin to influence one another, the movements become more connected, leading us into fluid transitions that resemble familiar yoga postures.

Standing spinal sequences are layered in to build awareness, control, and freedom in the spine – foundational for safe, effective movement. Suitable for all levels, this practice is both grounding and expansive, offering deep insight into how the body moves as an integrated whole.

asana, flow & posture

Asana, Flow, and Posture: this is our take on modern vinyasa yoga. Drawing upon our expertise in anatomy and physiology, we navigate through both traditional and contemporary yoga asanas, commonly known as poses, with fluidity and optimization.

Here, we also explore a reimagined perspective on sun salutations, introducing a refreshing sense of true flow. Our approach to vinyasa is not only practical but also easy to comprehend, making it accessible for practitioners at every level.

restorative flow & stillness

This practice draws from yin-like and restorative traditions, offering a deeply nurturing space to slow down and reconnect. Using supportive props and long-held, floorbased postures, we gently release tension in the fascia and nervous system. The emphasis is on softness, surrender, and intuitive awareness—balancing the more active practices with deep rest. This is a time to listen inward, explore stillness, and allow the body to settle into a calm, receptive state. Ideal for all levels, it complements dynamic practices by creating space for integration and renewal.

what guests say

“Lanka Yoga is bliss! The vegan food is amazing thanks to Jeevan and his team. The manager, Chaminda couldn’t have been more helpful organising tours, transport and cultural activities. We were truly pampered. We had a beautiful room with a double en-suite looking over Lake Koggala. Stunning morning sunrises were the norm. Lanka Yoga is your chance of a little slice of heaven.”
— Ruth K.

“Incredible Yoga Retreat Venue in Sri Lanka. Stefan, Dush, Duminda and the team were exceptional. Every request was met with ease and joy. The food was incredible — you would never be able to tell it was fully vegan. The rooms were stunning, modern and clean. Yoga shala was beautiful with amazing views for morning practice and the pool was lovely. Really close to Ahangama as well. We will definitely be back.”
— Paige T.

“Exceptional, inspiring and caring teachers, the perfect yoga, breathtaking sunrises, an ideal location. Here, everything is designed to refocus on what’s essential. Deliciously vegan dishes served three times a day, and music that perfectly accompanies this inner and physical journey. For those who are still hesitant: go for it without thinking, life is too short to deprive yourself of such an experience.”
— Frederick G.

frequently asked questions

How much yoga is there each day?

Two sessions — a 90-minute morning flow and a 90-minute evening practice. Mornings are more dynamic (Synergy Vinyasa, joint movements, asana), evenings are restorative (yin, Yoga Nidra, pranayama). There’s also a workshop most afternoons. Outside of that, your time is your own.

Do I need to be experienced?

No. The practice is designed to meet you where you are. Whether you’ve been practising for years or you’re just starting out, the teachers adapt everything to suit your level. Small group sizes (max 20) mean you get proper attention.

Can I come on my own?

Absolutely. Most people do. With three room options — shared, twin, or private — you can be as social or as independent as you like.

What's included in the price?

Six nights’ accommodation, three vegan meals a day, all yoga and workshop sessions, a massage, sauna and ice bath at Ember & Ice, a boat trip on Koggala Lake, and unlimited filtered water and tea. The only extras are optional activities and anything from the Lanka Café.

How far is the beach?

About five minutes by tuk-tuk to Habaraduwa beach. The south coast surf breaks at Ahangama and Kabalana are around 15 minutes away. Galle Fort is about 20 minutes.

What's the food like?

All meals are vegan, chef-designed, and made with as much home-grown and local produce as possible. It’s a mix of Western and Sri Lankan dishes. If you have allergies or specific dietary needs, just let the kitchen team know in advance.

What travel documents do I need?

A passport valid for at least six months after your departure date. Most nationalities can get a visa online before you travel, or on arrival.
