terms and conditions

We have made our policies as flexible as possible so you can feel confident in booking with us even in these uncertain times. If you have any questions or uncertainties, please feel free to contact us for clarification.

Sri Lanka, travel and Covid-19

The current regulations for entering Sri Lanka for tourism (and Yoga) are fair, safe, and easy to manage. The general rules for all arrivals at the moment (01.10.2021):

  • You mustn’t have traveled through India, Vietnam, South American, or South African countries for 14 days before arrival

If you are ‘fully vaccinated;’ which means that you have had your second dose of a Covid 19 vaccine more than 14 days before travel, you should:

  • Have a negative PCR test less than 72 hours before landing
  • On arrival you’re allowed to travel without restriction. Then if you aren’t fully vaccinated you must:
  • Spend two weeks in one of the hundreds of quarantine hotels throughout the island
  • Test negative after 14 days
  • Then you’re free to join us!

For those who have received both doses of a vaccine, it makes travel more or less like normal. For those who haven’t, the quarantine period at your choice of hotel is the restriction. There are many hotels with Ayurveda, Surf, Safaris and more.

The other consideration is what are the rules for return to your home country. Please check what would be the process for returning from Sri Lanka to make sure any testing or isolations requirements are manageable on your return.

Deposit and refund policy

Upon application, we have a non-refundable, but transferable deposit that will be required to hold your space. You are free to adjust the date as many times as needed within reason. Please note date changes are limited to more than 30 days before the training starts.

  • Yoga Retreat €300 deposit
  • Yoga Teacher Training €400 deposit
  • Stay with us 30% deposit

Full payment for events: yoga retreats & yoga teacher training

Full payment is due a minimum of 30 days prior to that date. If you apply less than 30 days prior to the commencement date, specific arrangements will be made to have the full fee paid prior to the start of the training.

If the balance of the course fee is not received by the notified due date, your place may be offered to someone on the waiting list, and you will forfeit the deposit paid. The price is the exact amount to be received by us, irrespective of fluctuations in currency and irrespective of any third-party transfer charges. If you choose to pay by electronic transfer, please instruct your bank to charge all costs to you in order to avoid a shortfall in the amount that we receive.

Full payment for hotel stays can be done in cash or via credit card on site.

Refund and canceling policies

If such cancellation is made 30 days or less before the start of the event or your stay, we will retain the full amount. However, if another person can be found to take your place, then we may offer you a 50% refund at our discretion.

Once the event has begun, no refund or part refund, or unused portion of the event will be repaid in the event of cancellation by you. Bookings are for the stated period of the event. There are no refunds for any unused portion of an event.

In the unlikely circumstance that Lanka Yoga has to cancel the training, Lanka Yoga will refund the full amount paid up to that date.

Lanka Yoga will NOT refund any other costs including but not limited to costs associated with flights, transfers or transfer flights, or any other costs that may have been incurred.

Students need to purchase Travel Insurance to cover any situation that may arise, such as illness, change of ticket dates, family emergency, acts of God, war, closure of airports, etc.

NOTE: In the instance that refunds are required, Lanka Yoga requests that you MUST contact your Travel Insurance Company in the first instance, to claim what is available. We will then pay any remaining refund amount in accordance with our policy above.

In the event that the training needs to be postponed due to restrictions or outcomes of Covid-19, your place will be secured at a future training of your choosing. Your deposit will not be refundable but rather transferable in this situation.

Lanka Yoga does not accept any responsibility or liability for cancellations, delays, changes, or losses caused by further acts of God, war, the threat of war, closure of airports, civil strife, natural disasters, accidents, or any other events beyond our control. The same waiving of all liabilities also applies to students’ injuries, illnesses, medical or psychiatric conditions.

Special COVID-19 policies

Travel arrangements are your responsibility. We shall not be held liable for any consequences arising from delays or cancellations in any of the companies you may have made arrangements with, or for any irregularities in your documentation required for travel.

We advise you to book flights only once you have insurance that will cover a postponement, and at a date that is closer to the training to be sure all is going ahead. We recommend a 30-day lead time before confirming flights.

Due to the volatility of current events, changes may have to be made to the details of the course. We reserve the right to make any changes necessary.

Your Health

If you have a medical condition, serious or otherwise, you MUST inform Lanka Yoga at the time of booking and provide a letter from your GP confirming that it is safe for you to attend a yoga teacher training or retreat with our advertised diet, yoga classes & and other physical activities that we arrange at your request (e.g. hiking, surfing etc.). In the interests of your wellbeing we may decline your stay at the retreat.

If an emergency arises we will do everything in our power to assist you but Lanka Yoga is not responsible for the outcome of any such emergency.

Pregnancy: Unless you have been a regular yoga practitioner for several years it is not advisable to practice yoga during the first trimester, particularly if there is any history of miscarriage. During the remainder of pregnancy it is more suitable to attend pregnancy yoga classes. However, if you have been a regular yoga practitioner for several years and your internal muscles are used to yoga postures and if you have a letter from your doctor stating that it is safe for you to engage in the activities that we provide, then you can attend an Lanka Yoga teacher training or retreat during your second and third trimester. Guidance from our yoga teacher must be observed.

Amendments by Lanka Yoga

Occasionally, changes may have to be made (e.g., yoga teacher, class times or other arrangements), which we reserve the right to do at any time. If your accommodation has to be changed for any reason, we will do our utmost to provide accommodation of a similar rating. If a significant change becomes necessary, we will inform you as soon as reasonably possible if there is time before your departure. Please note, promotions run on retreats on some occasions. Any promotions and discounts offered on retreats at a later date than your booking will not be applicable to the price you have agreed to pay.
