upcoming yoga retreats at lanka yoga
Lanka Yoga runs a curated calendar of yoga retreats in Sri Lanka at our purpose-built retreat centre on Koggala Lake, on the south coast near Galle. Some of these retreats are run by our own team, others are led by visiting teachers and schools who hire the venue for their own programmes. Either way, you’re staying at the same lakeside campus, eating the same food from our kitchen, and practising in the same open-air shala. Browse the upcoming retreats below to see dates, teachers and what each week focuses on, then click through for full details and booking.

why retreat at lanka yoga
Since 2021, Lanka Yoga has hosted yoga retreats for hundreds of guests from around the world. The venue was purpose-built for this kind of work, not converted from a hotel or rented seasonally. Accommodation, kitchen and open-air shala all sit on one site overlooking Koggala Lake, with a pool, a vegetable garden and a fruit forest that supplies much of what ends up on your plate.
Our in-house retreats are led by Lanka Yoga’s own teaching team, rooted in the Yoga Synergy method, an evidence-based approach to movement developed by physiotherapist Simon Borg-Olivier. The Synergy Vinyasa Retreat is run by Marilena and Dushyantha, our resident Synergy teachers. The Reset Retreat, focused on nervous system regulation and restorative practice, is led by Katerina and Lea.
We also host retreats run by visiting teachers and schools who choose Lanka Yoga as their venue. These are their programmes, their guests, and their schedule, but they’re held in the same lakeside setting, with the same on-site vegan kitchen and the same small-group feel. If a retreat leader has chosen to bring their people here, it’s usually a good sign of what the venue is like to work with.
Groups are typically capped at around 20, three vegan meals a day are included on every retreat, and the south coast is right there when you want a break from campus: beaches, surf, Galle Fort, cafes and tuk-tuks.

Where in Sri Lanka is Lanka Yoga located?
Lanka Yoga is a peaceful lakeside retreat centre on Koggala Lake, on Sri Lanka’s south coast, close to Galle and the surf towns around Ahangama. It’s quiet and green, but still easy to reach.
How do I get to your yoga retreat in Sri Lanka from the airport?
Most people fly into Colombo (CMB) and then travel south by private taxi or car. If you’d like, we can also book a transfer for you, so it’s all organised and simple from the moment you land.
What’s included in a yoga retreat in Sri Lanka at Lanka Yoga?
Each retreat is a little different (because each teacher designs their own programme), but most include: accommodation, daily meals, and a structured schedule of classes/workshops with plenty of space to rest and explore.
How much yoga do you do on a typical Sri Lanka yoga retreat?
Most retreats include two sessions per day — often a more active practice and a slower class, workshop, or breath-based session. The exact schedule depends on the teacher and the focus of the week.
Are your Sri Lanka yoga retreats suitable for beginners?
Generally, yes. Most retreats work well for beginners as long as you’re open-minded and happy to learn. That said, every retreat has its own focus and intensity, so it’s always worth checking in with the retreat organiser/teacher to make sure it suits your experience level, body, and what you want from the week.
Can I come alone to your yoga retreat in Sri Lanka?
Absolutely. Lots of guests come solo. It’s easy to meet people naturally (shared meals do the work), and it’s also just as easy to keep it quiet and have your own space.
What style of yoga are your retreats?
It depends on the retreat. Some weeks are more vinyasa / flow, some include yin and restorative, and others lean into breathwork, somatics, or movement-based practices. We keep the retreat listings updated so you can choose a week that genuinely matches how you like to practise.
Do you offer vegan food on retreat?
Yes — our meals are plant-based, fresh, and made for people who want to feel light and energised during practice. If you have allergies or dietary needs, tell us early and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
What’s the best time of year for a yoga retreat in Sri Lanka?
Sri Lanka has different weather patterns by coast. For the south coast, the most consistently sunny period is usually December to March, with wetter months typically around May to September. If you tell us your dates, we’ll give you the most realistic expectation.
How long are your yoga retreats in Sri Lanka?
Most are week-long (often 6–8 nights), but it varies. The listings on the retreats page show the exact dates for each upcoming retreat.
Do I need to be “fit” to do a Sri Lanka yoga retreat?
No. You just need a body and a willingness to move it kindly. Teachers offer modifications, and you can always take rest when you need it. Retreats are about building capacity, not proving anything.
How much does a yoga retreat in Sri Lanka cost at Lanka Yoga?
Our in-house yoga retreats start from €800 for the Synergy Vinyasa Retreat (6 nights, shared room) and €1,100 for the Reset Retreat (6 nights, shared room). All prices include accommodation, three vegan meals a day, and the full retreat programme. Hosted retreats run by visiting teachers are priced separately by each organiser — check the individual retreat listing for details.
