About the Training

About the Yin & Restorative Training

Yin and Restorative yoga is a slow, quiet, deeply nourishing practice. Where dynamic styles build heat and strength, this works the other way — long, supported holds that gently load the connective tissue, open the joints and invite the nervous system to settle. This is a Yoga Synergy approach to Yin and Restorative — not a standard Yin training — teaching you not only the shapes, but the anatomy and physiology, the energetics, and the art of holding space for stillness.

Delivered over two weeks as a 100-hour qualification, the training explores functional anatomy and physiology, fascia and the restorative systems of the body, the principles of long holds and skilful sequencing, and how to guide students safely into and out of deep, passive postures. It counts towards a Synergy Lanka Yoga 300-hour qualification, and suits experienced teachers looking to specialise as well as dedicated practitioners ready to deepen their understanding.

Sri Lanka is a beautiful place to do it. At Lanka Yoga, on the edge of Koggala Lake, mornings are still, the air is warm, and there's space to slow down completely — exactly the conditions a Yin practice asks for.

A Yoga Synergy Approach

Yin & Restorative, the Synergy Way

This is not a standard Yin teacher training. It's a Yoga Synergy approach to Yin and Restorative yoga — evidence-based, anatomically intelligent, and grounded in the same method that runs through all of our trainings. A 100-hour qualification delivered over two weeks, it counts towards a Synergy Lanka Yoga 300-hour certification.

Your teaching team

The training is led by the Yoga Synergy teaching team — Stefan, Dush, Marilena and Kate — bringing decades of combined experience in movement, anatomy and physiology, and the subtle, restorative side of practice.

What You'll Learn

What the Training Covers

Over two weeks, the Yin & Restorative training is built around these foundations:

Yin Methodology & Philosophy

The principles behind the practice — stillness, surrender and the role of long, passive holds in working with the deeper tissues of the body.

Functional Anatomy & Fascia

How connective tissue, joints and fascia respond to load over time, and how to teach Yin safely for the huge range of bodies that walk into a class.

Meridians & Energetics

An introduction to the meridian and organ systems that underpin Yin, and how energetic theory shapes the way the practice is sequenced and held.

Sequencing & Teaching

How to build a Yin class with intention, hold space for stillness, and guide students gently into and out of deep postures with clear, calm cueing.

Where You'll Train

The Experience

Slow Down, Go Deep

A Yin training is as much an inward journey as a teaching qualification. Expect long, quiet practices, time to reflect, nourishing vegan food and the kind of stillness that's hard to find in everyday life — all in a small, supportive group by the lake.
